Sunday Postcard Art

I was working on some Design Team stuff this weekend with the new Oxford Impressions stamp sheet devoted to Marie Antoinette. So that is what was spread all over my craft area when I saw the new theme at Sunday Postcard Art of
"Once Upon A Time."
All stamps are by Oxford Impressions.

March

Since it's March 1st today (can you believe it?) I thought I'd share my March calendar page.
I so love this little fairy image from Oxford Impressions, I had to giver her center stage on this month's calendar.
And, no, she's not ill -- I just thought I'd make her green in honor of St. Patrick's Day!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Edited to Add: Boy, I'm really with it (not!) My friend Sarah just pointed out that it is only February 28th, not March 1st.
You'd think I would have caught that given that blogger shows the date immediately above where I post it's the first day of March!!!!
Guess not everybody did believe it....
Art Creations Friday
I have to say a big "THANK YOU" to the ladies at Art Creations Friday who provide some fabulous images for us to use.
The image they posted today was the perfect inspiration for a retirement card I needed to make for a friend who is a little concerned about what she will do with all her time once she is retired. It's a little tongue in cheek, but I know she'll get a kick out of it.
The sentiment says, "Wake up every morning with the belief that something wonderful is going to happen."
Wednesday Stamper
Here is my offering for today's theme of "silhouette" at Wednesday Stamper.
I covered a chipboard puzzle piece with a mixture of gesso and acrylic paint. I created the background by using a doily as a stencil, applying ink and then pressing it into the chipboard.
The stamp is from Inkadinkado (another neglected but much loved stamp).
The word stamp is a an RAK from Sarah. The railways stamp is from Stampington.
TMTA
Today's theme at Think Monday, Think ATC was the letter "E". My first thought was Egg. My second thought was Easter. I went for the extra credit and used both...lol.
Had to make a second one using the Eiffel Tower.
Can I push it and say she is in her Easter bonnet?
Image is by the Graphics Fairy.
Last Day of WinterHaven
Today's the last day of WinterHaven!
Here's another card I made, this time for the "paper piecing" challenge offered by Jennifer at WinterHaven.
Don't know who makes this stamp, but it's the perfect stamp for this technique.
Made this for a friend who is having a hard time of it right now.
Make a Moo Friday
I'm hostess at Make a Moo or Two this week and chose the theme of "playing cards." These are my sample moos.
You can see all the other playing card moos at http://makeamooortwo.wordpress.com.
Winter Haven Challenges
A few more items I've created using challenges from WinterHaven........
This one was created for the vintage skinny challenge which is a canvas 3x5.
This was a tricky challenge -- an ode to Winter Haven of '09.
Basically something starting with W (woman), something starting with H (heart),
an O or something round (typewriter key) and something that represents the
number 9 (my nine squares).
This last one was for the inchies galore (minimum of three) inchies on a card.
Wednesday Stamper
As "shiny" was the challenge today at Wednesday Stamper, I created a tag using a technique Tim Holtz showed on his blog. It called for mixing distress ink from a reinker as well as radiant pearls and some water in a spray bottle and then spraying it directly onto your paper. The result is this shiny background.
I stamped my background with a StampinUp stamp. The image is an RAK from Jacqueline that I recently received from her.
Ugly Paper Challenge Part 2
As I mentioned yesterday, as part of the Ugly Paper Challeng at Winter Haven, I received some neon green vellum and some very, very bright neon pink vellum. These were much more challenging than the patterned papers in yesterday's post.
For the green vellum I cut out a bird image and then tried toning down the color a bit by applying white Staz-On across it as well as stamping it with some script.
It's still pretty bright.
The neon pink vellum was sooooo bright the best I could do was use it as a scalloped border for my stamped image. I then also punched some flowers from the pink and green vellum to add to my card.
The background paper here is also part of the ugly paper challenge.
Winter Haven's Ugly Paper Challenge
One of the challenges at Winter Haven (see the banner on the left to find out about Stamp Haven's winter event) was to volunteer to receive some pretty ugly paper and see what you can create with it. This paper used in these three cards was part of what I received. I found by using great stamps by Oxford Impressions, the paper started to look a lot better.
Wait till you see what I created with the neon pink and green vellum.........
Sunday Postcard Art
A big thanks to Mandy for asking me to be hostess for this Sunday's postcard art. Probably the last of the hearts we'll see as Valentine's Day weekend comes to a close. How nice that it was on a Saturday this year.
For my sample I swiped gesso across my canvas and then placed a metal textured heart into it to form my heart impression (you can see the impressions more if you click on the piece.)
I added some red ink to it to make it pop. Then I masked my heart before I stamped my music (Hampton Arts) across the background..
The border flourishes as as well as the gold embossed frame is from Autumn Leaves. The image is from CollageVisions.
Sentiment is from StampinUp.
Wednesday Stamper
Wednesday Stamper has as their theme to use hearts in a different way. This is what I came up with at 2:00 in the morning when I could not sleep.
The cupcake stamp is from Oxford Impressions. The heart frosting was created from a stamp by Impression Obsession.
Art Creations Friday & Sunday Postcard Art
Once again, a combination of challenges -- The lovely image from Art Creations Friday and the theme of "chairs" from Sunday Postcard Art. Technically, it looks as if she is sitting in a chair, so that should have covered it, but I felt the need to add the only chair images I had which are from an old StampinUp set.
Moo Birthday!
Today the Make a Moo or Two challenge site is celebrating its first birthday! The theme, therefore, is to use the number one somewhere in your moo. Don't know why I went with eggs instead of birthday or party theme, but here it is.
But since it's their first birthday I only made one -- instead of two:)
Stamps are by Hampton Arts and Invoke Arts.
Theme Thursday
I am totally in love with Martha Stewart's packaging!! Some of her embellishments come in these fabulous cardboard little hangy things which then make great tags.
I made a little garden scene from the Fairy Sweet stamps from Oxford Impressions. My little picket fence is actually from the birthday candles that came with it.
"Borders" is the theme at Theme Thursday this week and as I've a litle lace border with rhinestones on the bottom of this piece, I think it will work!
Wednesday Stamper
Here is my submission for today's Wednesday Stamper challenge. The theme is "kiss."
I had great results stamping this image from Stampsmith using an ink I don't often use. Instead of my usual Staz-On for stamping on glossy cardstock, I pulled out an Ancient Page inkpad from ClearSnap (in Redwood). I was amazed at the crisp, detailed image I got. So glad I just ordered about ten new colors of this ink yesterday!
Vintage Postcard
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, the Vintage Veranda has as their theme for this month "Love Letters & Stolen Kisses."
I posted a challenge there today to create a vintage Valentine postcard. The challenge runs all month and there will be a "lovely" RAK given at the end of the month. That's my sample above.
If you haven't checked out the gallery at Vintage Veranda lately you must! Vicki Chrisman, our guest artist this month has added some absoutely fabulous vintage items.
Going to Graceland, Love Lettters, Etc.
This month I am going to Graceland to see the home of Elvis for the first time. So when I saw the theme of "Rock Stars" at Think Monday, Think ATC, you know what the first thing to enter my mind was. Here's my mini tribute to Elvis.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Check this Out.....

It's also the beginning of a new month and that means at the Vintage Veranda we are saying good-by to Jacqueline deGroot as our Guest Artist and welcoming Vicki Chrisman as our Guest Artist for February. The theme at VV this month is Love letters & Stolen Kisses, and Vicki has graced our gallery with an amazing love letter box as well as a tutorial on how to make paper flowers. You will have to check this out - gorgeous work!
Sarah has supplied the Love quizzes and trivia to go along with our theme -- lots of fun!

Continuing with my calendar I'm making, this is my page for February. I used the little Valentine Fairies that I made as part of my DT work for Oxford Impressions.

Gothic Arch

I love the theme that was selected by our hostess, Gayle, this week at Gothic Arch challenge which is to use a tag on your arch. I love making tags, so this was an easy one for me.
