Tag Tuesday Challenge #49 -- Glitter
April 26, 2010
Tag Tuesday News
I've just put up the sampler for last week's Tag Tuesday Challenge to Recycle, Reuse, Repurpose. You'll see for yourself what a creative lot we have participating in these challenges. A fabulous bunch of tags!
I'm getting ready to post tomorrow's challenge and see that it will be challenge #49. You know what that means.....in three weeks it will be one year I have been hosting this tag challenge. Which is very cool.
I thought it might be fun to have you toss some ideas over my way as to challenges you'd like to see. I know it's impossible to remember all the ones, we've had....but if something grabs you, just throw it out there. I'm leaving the comments section of this post open for your ideas for challenges. And the one that comes up with the idea that is used for our one year anniversary challenge will receive a special package of goodies from me.

Gothic Arch Challenge
Made this for the Gothic Arch Challenge which was to make a fold out card. I chose to make mine in the shape of an arch although you didn't have to. Not bad for 2:30 in the morning, don't ya think? I'll bet I'm the first one over there to post.........

Fianlly -- Some Inspiration
I have had this stamp set of words for ages -- and have never known what to do with it. Don't know why it had me so stumped, but it did. I recently saw a card using one of these and was inspired. Unfortunately, I don't know where it was, so I can't give proper credit.
I made these simple cards as a set to give a friend as a brithday gift. I especially love how easy the last one worked into the paper by DCWV's Mariposa. The perfect canvas for it.

A Swap For All Seasons -- Tussie Mussie Part 2
Today I thought I'd share with you the beautiful Tussie Mussie I received in the Swap for All Seasons. I shared with my partner, Julie, my favorite color -- and let's just say I was tickled "pink" when I opened her beautiful package and saw her handmade Tussie Mussie. I was especially blown away by what looks like corset binding she placed down the back side of it. Thank you, Julie!
Along with my Tussie Mussie came a fabulous bunch of vintage goodies -- buttons, brads, flowers, lace, glitter, etc.
It was a wonderful swap, Julie. I really appreciate all of it!

Tuesday Tag Challenge #48 -- Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse
Earth Day is approaching on April 22nd, so I used that to launch this week's challenge which is to recycle, repurpose or reuse something in your tag. You can create the tag from a recycled package as I did or simply make an embellishment for your tag from something that's repurposed.
Then share with us what you did on your blog.

For my tag I recycled some Martha Stewart packaging. I love this stuff and I've used it many times in the past. Since the middle section appeared somewhat glossy, it seemed like it would take to alcohol inks and it did. I added the gold flecks with my Krylon pen as I was applying alcohol inks to it. And I also used my gold Krylon pen to color the metal hanger at the top so it would match the gold in my tag.
Stamped sentiment by Stampers Anonymous (Tim Holtz); gold birds by Making Memories; image by digitalcollagesheets.

Published -- Stampington's Catch Up Issue
I was excited to see nine of my cards published in the newest edition of Stampington's Catch Up Issue. As the name implies, they feature cards that have been submitted in the past and have not been published in any of their magazines. And sometimes they go waaaaay back. I had submitted these two cards for a moo challenge quite a while ago. Some of my other cards went back two years or more.....and I truly didn't recognize them until I saw my name!
I receive Stampington's e-mail newsletter Postscript and I was even more thrilled to see my card as the sneak peak for the next Take Ten coming out in June!
Click here to see it for youself. It's part of a masterboard I created and if you scroll down on that page, they show more of it.

A Swap for All Seasons --- Tussie Mussie
I had never heard of a "Tussie Mussie" before I decided to enter A Swap for All Seasons May Day swap. I soon learned it is really a decorated cone, at times used to hold bouquets.
Since my swap partner has already received hers, I thought I'd share the one I made.
Above are some vintage goodies I included in my package.
The hankie was one of my mother's. She always carried a handkerchief with her wherever she went. A lovely tradition, but I'm thankful for Kleenex myself.
The chipboard flowers I made for my partner before I learned she won the $100 Prima Giveaway. Oh, well:)
I had fun making the tussie mussie. I think I'd like to give these a try with a Christmas theme.

Tag Tuesday Challenge #47 -- Inspire Me!
This week's tag challenge is to use a quote or a word even that you find inspiring. That should be relatively easy. And at the same time it will be nice to check out everyone's tag and be motivated and uplifted!
I used a quote from one of Tim Holtz' new stamp sets -- which goes so well with his new line of paper. One more thing about this new Tim Holtz paper, Shabby Vintage, I've been raving about. Pam inquired if I was going to be purging myself of any of the pages I don't like as I shared previously I usually do when I buy a new paper pad. Well, there's not one sheet in this pad that I would even consider getting rid of. In fact, after making the tags I made the last two days with it I found myself saving scraps from this paper in a way I never have before. This stuff is gorgeous!

Gothic Arch Challenge
The challenge at Gothic Arches today is tags. How could I resist a tag challenge? It gave me a chance to use some of my new Tim Holtz paper (which, to tell the truth, makes me feel guilty as it does a lot of the work for you).
I also got to use one of my arch stamps from Invoke Arts as well as do some white embossing because Jacqueline has inspired me to do so.
I created a little door in my arch that opens up to show the image as shown in the second picture.

Live, Love, Laugh -- Mini Album
Another little chipboard mini album I've created. While I love creating these, there's really two parts to them. One is covering all the chipboard with paper which involves measuring and cutting and adhering. And then punching the holes in the paper and/or chipboard so they all line up. Kind of hate this part.
The second part is laying out all the pages, photo spots, journaling spots, and embellishments. I really, really like that part.

Tag Tuesday Challenge #46 -- Sketch
I've never been one to follow card sketches -- don't know why really -- but I did have the notion to try one for this weeks tag challenge.
It's a simple sketch, so this shouldn't be too tough. Have fun!

I created my square from a stamp by Magenta. I colored the backbround with distress inks and then added Glossy Accents to give it a shiny effect.

Catching Up
I just returned from a fabulous three-day road trip with my sister. Along the way we found a scrapbooking store that had some of the new Tim Holtz paper packs, I have been waiting for these to hit the shelves since I saw previews of them from the Winter CHA show. This one I picked up was not the one I originally thought I wanted, but when I saw it in person I fell in love with it. This 12x12 tablet is filled with pastel vintage patterned papers not only in 12x12 sizes but also in pages of 6x6 quadrants as well as ACT sized backgrounds. It is amazing!
Due to the road trip (as well as some internet problems when I returned) I am way behind on checking out all the tags from this week's Tag Tuesday. I hope to get to that very soon!
