Tag Tuesday Challenge #58 -- Summer

Summer is upon us!   The heat is here -- and so are the summer storms.   But I was down at our lake shore (Lake Michigan) last week and remembered one of the really good things about summer, being  on the beach!
So our challenge this week is to create a summer tag.  Maybe something that shows what you really enjoy doing in the summer or something that really speaks of summer to you.
And since it's the lazy days of summer and next weekend is the 4th of July weekend this will be a two-week challenge.  Our next challenge will be on July 13th.  So take your time and post when you'd like anytime these next two weeks.
Oh, and don't forget to go and see what everyone else has created!
My tag and this week's inspiration started with the circle frame I received from a friend. I stamped an "S" in the center and that became this week's theme.  I used background stamps from Tim Holtz (Stampers Anonymous) and the flourish is by Judikins.  I then created the suummer twinchie with background text by Hero Arts and a long-forgotten mini stamp by PSX.  The letters for "summer" were a rub-on I then cut up and attached to my tag.

E-Book by Nancy Maxwell James

Well, it took me forever to get around to all the Tag Tuesday submissions this week -- it was a crazy week.  But I was really blown away by the fabulous tags created with the postage theme.  If you haven't checked out all the tags this week you'll really want to do so.
We have a lot of new participants and amazing crafters!

A few of my crafting friends have already shared about the E-Book created by Nancy Maxwell James.

If you haven't seen it yet, you can find it here on Nancys blog.

I was thrilled to see some arch projects I had created included, so I'm sharing a few of them with you today.

Tag Tuesday Challenge #57 -- Postage

When I last purchased postage stamps I was blown away by the U.S. Post Office's new "Love" stamp with its beautiful purple pansies.   I knew immediately one of them would find its way on to a tag.
Which makes this weeks tag challenge "postage."    You can incorporate that into your tag by using a real postage stamp as I did, using a rubber stamp, or even creating one of your own.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

FYI: Sentiment Stamps and Collage Cards

FYI on my last post:   Many of you have commented on how you liked the edging on the cards I showed in the previous post.  I must confess I did not punch the paper myself.  I bought it pre-punched in a pack from K& Co.  The pad measures 5 x 7 and is supposed to be for matting photos.
There were also a lot of you that expressed interest in the stamps I used.  I know that Michael's is currently selling these in their clear stamp section if that helps anyone:)

Sentiment Stamps and Collage Cards

I bought these stamps recently from Inkadinkado because I thought they would work well to turn the collage cards I like to make into special occasion cards.
The results are below.

These last two use images from Artistic Outpost.

Tag Tuesday Challenge #56 -- Men!

It's Father's Day this Sunday here in the States so I thought we'd have a challenge using "Men" as our theme.  (I couldn't believe after over a year of challenges we hadn't done anything with that theme before.)    So simply use that as your inspiration point for this week's tag.
For my tag I used stamps from Oxford Impressions, from the Steampunk and Father set.  I really like the mini tag I stamped as an embellishment for my tag.

Tag Tuesday Sampler News & Sampler

I really had lots of fun seeing all the tags for last week's theme of "my favorite things" and seeing how much the artist followed along with what I thought her signature elements would be.  That being said, for this week's sampler I have included tags where I thought I would be readily able to identify the artist.
Can you?  Because I purposely did not include any names with this week's sampler.  (I couldn't help that a few of the artists did include a watermark with their names....oh, well.)
I promised an RAK of some of my favorite typewriter key letters -- and that is going out to Christine!   Congrats to you Christine and thanks for playing along in the Tag Tuesday challenge so faithfully.
Please send me your e-mail address so I can get these to you.

Playing around with Packaging

I was inspired by this packaging from some Prima flowers, so I created these two tags from it.
Stamp on first tag by Artistic Outpost (collage image).
Stamps on 2nd tag by Artistic Outpost (background text) and Stampington (collage image).

Not a Tag

Taking a break from tags, here is a card I made with a new set (to me at least) of stamps from Artistic Outpost.

Tag Tuesday Challenge #55 -- These Are A Few of My Favorite Things

I'm not a trained artist by any means, but I usually can identify a work of art by Monet when I see one. Likewise, I'm finding out I can spot the work of many of our Tuesday Taggers more easily all the time. Which I think is very cool.
So I thought this week we could create tags using all of very favorite things and those things which have become signature items so to speak. (Let me just give an example -- if I don't see a butterfly on Jacqueline's tag this week I'll be very surprised. )
For those of you who have just joined the TT lately, this will give us a chance to get to know you and the things you like better, so don't let this challenge scare you off.
Note:  You can use just one thing or ten....like I did.

On to my tag for this week.  Here are my favorite things which it includes:
1.  Pink
2.  A romantic look
3.  Vintage images
4.  Background text (love this German text stamp by Artistic Outpost)
5.  Lace
6.  Crocheted Flowers (Got this one from Pam's Etsy shop).  Thanks Lori for
the flower I placed in the middle.
7.  The torn paper look (check out the polka dot strip next to the image).
8.  Collage
9.  Typewriter key alphabet (Love these and have three sheets of them to send as an RAK for someone who participates in this challenge).
10.  It's a tag -- love that look.  Which should be no surprise to anyone.

Tag Tuesday News

If anyone is interested in submitting a Music Tag for this week's challenge, today will be the last day to post it.
Tag Tuesday will come to you on Monday this week as I've got lots to do on Tuesday (and I've had mixed results with submitting something to post at a scheduled time through Blogger).   So look for this week's sampler and a new challenge tomorrow instead of Tuesday.
I think it's a fun one!

I had work published in both the latest Take Ten and Stampers Sampler.

This is the masterboard I created for Take Ten and the cards I made from the Masterboard.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Stampers Sampler included this card I made for a moo challenge many moons ago.  Seems like for a while we were all making moos and not they're not seen that much anymore.  Hmmmm....maybe I'll have to incorporate that into a Tag Tuesday challenge:)
Speaking of TT, congratulations to the following Tag Tuesday participants who also had work included in these publications:  Lynn, Evelyn, Elaine!
Tag Tuesday Challenge #54 -- Music
I made this tag over the holiday weekend (For those not in the U.S., we celebrated Memorial Day).
I included on my mini patriotic tag some sheet music of the Star Spangled Banner which I reduced in size.
So our theme for this week shall be MUSIC.  Create a tag that notes music in some way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really enjoyed looking at all the doodling tags this past week.  I hope you did, too.  I apologize for the lack of a sampler this week but a few things converged together to make the perform storm to keep me from being able to do it -- a busy holiday weekend, a computer glitch which found me unable to find the tags I had saved, and some ongoing repetitive-use problems with my hands which forces me to limit my time at the computer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Post your music-themed tags here -- and be sure to check out everyone else's!
