Sunday Postcard Art - Double Take

I'm happy to be hosting this week's challenge at Sunday Postcard Art.  I chose the theme “Double Take"  when I found the stamp I had of this little girl's face matched the face in this round stamp I had.  So you can repeat an image as I did or take the theme in any creative direction you choose.

Sunday Postcard Art's challenge this week is 4th of July. I had my stamps out still from yesterday's card, so I proceeded with the same song background but added this image of my mother from 1937. I believe it was some kind of school pageant or something, but I really like this photo.

I have been waiting for summer to come along because I knew I'd get a chance to ink up these stamps I bought last winter from Sugar Lump Studios. And Sunday Postcard Art has picked "vintage bathing beauties" as their theme for this week.

The vintage ad, fish, starfish and seashell are all by SLS.

It's Sunday Postcart Art's first birthday, so I used my favorite birthday baby to celebrate!

I created the background by stamping Postcard and Art repeatedly. I then used a receipe for birthday cake to use behind my picture.

Postage People

I've been wanting to try creating "postage people" for a while. Today this is the theme at Sunday Postcard Art. A wonderful tutorial was given, too. This is my take on the theme. A few weeks ago I received an advertisement from our local Italian restaurant. These two gentleman were on the cover. I knew I'd have to use them in something, and today's "black

and white" challenge at Sunday Postcard Art was just the thing! I just love them!!!

Audrey Hernandez is the hostess for this week's butterfly theme at Sunday Postcard Art.

I was going to experiment with some alcohol inks and a few of my butterfly stamps, but by the time I had fiddled around with a few things laying on my craft desk I had already finished this card and was happy with the way it looked.

The image is from Collage Visions. The background text is from a French Composition book I recently found at a thrift store. The butterfly definition stamp is from Paper Artsy And the vellum I am just crazy about -- found a whole package of 12x12 sheets at Big Lots for $2. Which is not the real reason I'm crazy about it. I just think it's gorgeous.

I was working on some Design Team stuff this weekend with the new Oxford Impressions stamp sheet devoted to Marie Antoinette. So that is what was spread all over my craft area when I saw the new theme at Sunday Postcard Art of

A big thanks to Mandy for asking me to be hostess for this Sunday's postcard art. Probably the last of the hearts we'll see as Valentine's Day weekend comes to a close. How nice that it was on a Saturday this year.

For my sample I swiped gesso across my canvas and then placed a metal textured heart into it to form my heart impression (you can see the impressions more if you click on the piece.)

I added some red ink to it to make it pop. Then I masked my heart before I stamped my music (Hampton Arts) across the background..

The border flourishes as as well as the gold embossed frame is from Autumn Leaves. The image is from CollageVisions.

Art Creations Friday & Sunday Postcard Art

Once again, a combination of challenges -- The lovely image from Art Creations Friday and the theme of "chairs" from Sunday Postcard Art. Technically, it looks as if she is sitting in a chair, so that should have covered it, but I felt the need to add the only chair images I had which are from an old StampinUp set.

The theme of "circles" was given this week at Sunday Postcard Art.

I used some new paper by Prima for my background. The couple image is by CollageVisions. The flourish circles in both corners are from Autumn Leaves.

And if you look closely you'll see the word "love" stamped across the bottom with an Art Impressions stamp.

Sunday Postcard Art has "celebrate" as its theme this week. I had fun creating this little guy's party hat.

At least I think he's a guy....

All Things Coming Together

My submission to Sunday Postcard Art came together through my desire to use some of the images from the 700 vintage greeting cards I received this week from my sister-in-law. (Click here to see some pictures.)

I also found this grid stamp at a resale shop today while hitting the after-Christmas sales.

I think my SIL will be thrilled to see her card next year which is made from scanned images of the cards she gave me.

I think she'll also be glad to receive this Christmas ornament I made for her (already ahead on next year's gifts:). I had this little ornament book from last year which I found at Wal-Mart at the after-Christmas sales as well. I have not known what to do with it. It's pages are the size of an ATC.

I finally decided to print out scanned images of all of the Christmas cards my SIL gave me and insert them into this little book. I laid out nine on a page and then printed them on self-adhesive paper to make the job easier when adding them into the book.

The cover of the book had the wording on it already, but I added a Christmas tree rub-on.

I outlined each card (there's a total of 27 in this book) with gold pen. I then added distress ink around the cards and on the very white pages.

Here is my contribution to the Christmas theme at Sunday Postcard Art.

I was very happy to be able to get some art posted as we have been without internet on and off a good part of the week -- mostly off. It's kind of interesting to see how attached you are to your computer, internet, blog, etc. I was feeling signs of withdrawal when my son (who I thought for sure would feel the effects of being disconnected from his computer) told me it was kind of good to just take a break from it and not worry about what's going on on-line every minute.

So I let go and concentrated on some different things this week. I did make one observation that perhaps was not so good -- I watched a lot more TV this week.
