Vintage Tag

My friend Sarah shared an amazing tag she made yesterday using a cool technique with alcohol inks and stamping with the blender solution. I had to give it a try and this is the result.

I used glossy cardstock for my tag. I added Butterscotch and Meadow alcohol inks to the

cardstock with no blender solution. When it was dry I applied the blender solution to my applicator and "inked" up my alphabet stamp (Hampton Arts) and then stamped it over the alcohol inks.

It's a subtle effect, but I like it a lot!

Tuesday Twinchies

I am hosting a challenge at Stampin D'Amour to create twinchies. These are two samples I made for that challenge.

I made both of them on alcohol ink backgrounds.

The first one includes stamps from Paperbag Studios and Hampton Arts.

The secon includes stamps from Magenta and Studio G.

Wednesday Stamper

The theme at Wednesday Stamper was not butterflies -- but it was insects. Sad to say, I had to check and see that butterflies were insects. And, indeed, they are. Which is a good thing because it seems I have plenty of butterfly stamps! The brown and magenta one were created on alcohol ink backgrounds.

Wednesday Stamper

A little late for posting this, for me anyway, but my internet service was down all day.

Made this ATC for Wednesday Stamper's challenge to use the first letter of your name to create something. So using the L from Louise I made this ATC depicting the one place I want to visit more than anywhere in the whole word -- London.

I made my background using alcohol inks and placing drops of the ink on glossy cardstock, then adding the blending solution to it which gives it this kind of neat effect.

Happy New Year!

There's only about eight hours left in this year and so I wanted to post my ATC for Think Monday, Think ATC before the year is out. Their theme was color -- what colors represented the new year. I have to admit that had me stumped. My thoughts were more on the passage of time. So I brought some different colors into my "time" ATC through an alcohol ink background.

This year will be a big one for me in many ways which is why the passing of time is so much on my mind. Next month I'll turn 50; in May my only child will graduate college; in July I'll celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary; and August will mark 30 years I have been at my job. 2008 is looking to be quite the year!

More Holy Triptych

My friend Dawn suggested I try alcohol inks as a background for this Holy Triptych set that has frustrated me so. Good idea, Dawn! I created a background with the Lettuce and Gold Adirondack alcohol inks to stamp on. I added a little more color to my image with some glitter gel pens. I also had this rich, brown flocked paper from Paper Bouquet which I thought made a great frame for it.

Although I don't like this one quite as much I also tried the alcohol inks once again on acetate and then stamped my image with black Staz-On. I added the tag which came with the set and gold embossed that.

Christmas Card Challenge Day 2

My challenge to myself to use all my Christmas stamps -- in lieu of buying any more -- continues today. I used two stamps from Stampington for today's cards, both of which are collage in style and make it very easy to make a quick card.

For my first one I stamped my angel stamp from Stampington on a piece of acetate in black Staz-On. When it was dry I then turned the acetate over and added a few drops of Adirondak Wild Plum alcohol ink to the wrong side of the acetate. I then placed another sheet of acetate on top of the ink and smooshed the two sheets together so the ink dispersed over my image. When dry I attached my acetate to my background paper and cardstock with some gold brads. I added a piece of self-adhesive paper lace on the bottom.

I didn't include a greeting as the stamp has greetings in different languages on all four sides.

It's a different color, I know, but I like it!

Fall Card

My grandmother used to tell us we had some gypsy blood in us, so this quote has been one I've been wanting to use for a while. I computer-generated it for this card.

I stamped the trees (Northwoods) with black Staz-On on a glossy sheet which I had applied alcohol inks to. The eye (Hampton Arts) I overstamped with black Staz-On where the moon used to be. The background paper is gorgeous in real life with tiny little orange crystal like things on it.

I'll be sending this to my older sister -- I think she'll appreciate the message.

Cherish Today

I've been playing a lot with alcohol inks. I created the background for this matchbook card by using Wild Plum and then the Gold mixative from Tim Holtz' Adirondack inks. Like the look quite a bit.

I stamped the dragonfly from StampinUp over that. The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

On the bottom of the matchbook I used a flourish from Stampington and then added the flower punched from my favorite Martha Stewart punch.

Sympathy

Sadly, I needed a bunch of sympathy cards this week, so I created this one which is a variation of a card I showed earlier. Really helps to have some ideas on hand when you need cards quickly.

Wednesday Stamper

The theme this week over at Wednesday Stamper was Flowers.

Gave me a chance to use this older daisy stamp by Stampa Rosa which I still love. I stamped the flowers and the quote by Inkadinkado on alcohol inks. The largest flower was stamped twice, cut out, and placed over the image to give it some dimension.
I used Basic Grey for the background and, again,made use of my self-adhesive brads.

Today is the day for a sympathy card. I made this one from a piece I found in my stash of things I accumulate when I feel like stamping, but not making a card. When I'm out of inspiration I will look in there to find somethign to create a card with. Other times I will look at my paper and see what inspires me. Or maybe even my box of ribbon. In this case it was the collage from StampinUp which I had stamped on alcohol inks. I added that to some background paper I had embossed with my Cuttlebug (Divine Swirls). The sentiment is from Rubber Stampede.

Wednesday Stamper Challenge

This week's challenge on Wednesday Stamper was the color turquoise. I used alcohol ink on glossy cardstock to create the background. The image is from Stampsmith.

Since these photo type images are best used on glossy cardstock, it was a good choice of stamp for this background.
