Last Day of WSW

So I thought I'd show you a card I made this week for WSW which incorporated 16-1/2 challenges. Thank goodness for Sandy's challenge to use a long, tall card otherwise I would have never fit everything on one card. To see a list of the challenges used on this card, click here.

More WSW Creations

This card was created for the "door" challenge and also one that called for a playing card to be used somewhere in the card.

Thanks to Kris, I was able to participate in the Asiana challenge as all of my supplies came from her generous RAK.

I made one more for the "By The Sea" challenge as I really wanted to use this PSX stamp I like so much as well as some paper from Stampington that I have been hoarding.

This was for the Christmas in June challenge. I used a collage stamp by Stampington as well as the definition stamp by Hero Arts.

Worldwide Stamping Week

Here are some of the cards I've made for the challenges posted at WSW at 2 Peas.This first one was a sketch challenge. I used a music collage and sentiment stamps by Magenta.


This purple and red card met the challenge to use two colors which were next to each other on the color wheel, the challenge to make a tall card, and the challenge to do naked stamping (all stamping with no patterned paper or embellishments). I used stamps by Hero Arts, Prima, Cloud 9 Design, Studio G.

This was for Nancy James' theme of "By the Sea." I know she likes lighthouses, so I used this stamp from Stampendous. Other stamps used were by Art Impressions and Cloud 9 Design.

This last one was a fun challenge called "Inspire Me" in which the hostess gave several objects which could inspire you (including some patterned paper plates!) I chose to use a room layout featured in a magazine with these colors.

The challenges are still going on this week. Yesterday there was a random give-away by 2 Peas of six stamp sets on their message board! Click on the button on the side of my blog to see what's going on today!

Umbrellas

I needed a card for a neighbor who needs encouragement and was inspired to make this card by the challenge at Layers of Color. The theme was "umbrellas." I immediately thought of this very old stamp I have by All Night Media. I don't use it often, but I really love it. I followed Laura's instructions on the challenge blog on how to make an umbrella. I used a Studio G stamp to create the stripes on mine. The rest of the image was colored in using watercolor pencils and blender pen.

Naked Stamping

I created this Father's Day card for Pam's challenge (over at StampinD'Amour) to do "naked stamping." Which, of course, means to use nothing but stamps, ink and paper. No embellishments of any sort. I like that, getting back to basic stamping. I created my background paper (no patterned papers allowed) with various key stamps and a postmark stamp. I stamped my male image from Rubber City River Works on red cardstock and then masked him and stamped the manuscript text over that. The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Embossed Wedding Card

I had a friend request a Wedding Card. Silver and purple immediately came to mind. I also wanted to create something embossed for the challenge this week at Layers of Color. I managed both kinds of embossing here using the Cuttlebug to dry emboss my silver background paper and also silver embossing this scroll heart stamp by Stampington.

More House Art

A few days back I showed some House Art I made. I've been really enjoying this, so I decided to post this as a challenge on the Stampin D'Amour site. Here are two more I made to inspire anyone wanting to take up this challenge -- using anything you'd like, just create in the shape of a house. Link back and let us know what you've created!

Look Again...

...and you'll see I've used Christmas paper for my backgrounds. A challenge was put out by Lisa over at Shabbychick Junk to use up your Christmas paper -- and make anything but Christmas cards. I loved that idea.

For the first card I used some of my standby Christmas paper -- good for all the evergreen stamps and nature type of cards. I've even used some of my Christmas ribbon on this one. The paper is Green Plaid by Karen Foster. Stamps are by PSX/Inkadinkado. Sentiment by PaperTreyInk.

The middle one uses a sheet of double-sided red striped paper from Making Memories. Unfortunately, the glossy black paper does not photograph well, so you miss some of the pop. Stamps are by Rubber Stampede, Hampton Arts, and the birthday wishes are by Sugarloaf.

The last one was a pretty simple one using the Mike's $1 stamps and some of my favorite Christmas paper by Paper Studio and another strip of Making Memories.

Got to use up this Christmas paper because I know what happens when I start seeing the new stuff coming out.

Daring Cardmakers

Here is my card for the '60's theme over on Daring Cardmakers. Looks pretty retro, doesn't it? I've had that image for a while and am glad to use it.

Reminds me of the coffee clutch the neighborhood moms used to have when I was growing up (late '60's). They'd all take turns meeting at one anothers house for coffee and cake. Then they'd sit around all afternoon and just gab and gab and gab. I don't think any of them actually turned up in pearls and dresses though.

Stamped the background with stamps from Hero Arts. Forget who made the alphabet.

Nature is the Art of God

Today as I was driving to work my thoughts drifted to cardmaking, as they often do, and this design came to mind. I knew I wanted to make a card with a script background, a flower, and some other botanical/foliage stamps. In fact, I have a Kleenex box that kind of inspired me.

When I started playing around with my stamps I could see this was evolving into a card that would fit the final sketch for this month over at Two Peas.

The butterfly technically should be a little lower, but it just seemed lost. You can't tell from the picture, but the butterfly was stamped, cut out and then I added Diamond Glaze to it so it really stands out.

The stamps I used include the flower and sentiment by StampinUp; script by Hero Arts; butterfly by Inkadinkado; shadow stamp and foliage by Stampington.

Recycle Challenge

One more Challenge Card from the Worldwide Stamping Weekend over at Two Peas.

When I came upon the "Recycle Challenge" which called for using something you would ordinarily throw away, I spied this ribbon with attached heart-shaped card sitting on my craft table. I had just taken it off a shower gift I had received. I figured it was the perfect ingredient. I didn't even untie the ribbon, it was all ready to slide right on my card.

The larger heart is from Stampington. The sentiment down the side of the card is from Hero Arts.

WorldWide Stamping Weekend

What a great weekend! The Worldwide Stamping Weekend happened over at Two Peas this weekend. A whole weekend of challenges, prizes, chatting, meeting people. What a great time. I made a bunch of cards for the various challenges.


This challenge called for "inchies" which I love to create -- one inch square canvasses. I stamped my images and words on paper and then cut them out and added them to my inchies of black and gold script paper.

I decided to make a card out of it although that wasn't a requirement of the challenge.

This challenge called for a stamp with a monument like the Eiffel Tower, Mona Lisa, or an inspirational word. So I created this card using my Eiffel Tower from Inkadinado. The French Lady is from Embossing Arts. Other stamps from Stampington.





The French coins are from costume jewelry I found at the dollar store. How do you say "very appropriate" in French?

BBQ Invitation

I love making tags and I love the way they look on cards. So when I saw the sketch challenge over at Two Peas for this week, I was immediately drawn to it. I had the BBQ grill stamp from Inkadinkado and had just picked up this red checked paper from Flair Designs to go with it. I stamped the shadow squares and letters on the bottom and then drew the stitching around it with a marker. "You're Invited" is a Michael's clear stamp.

Color Challenge

The Color Challenge this week over at Two Peas was Carnelian, Lapis Lazuli, Onyx, and Ivory (gemstones). No problem:0).
I actually have an ink called Lapis Lazuli so I used it to stamp the alphabet onto the Ivory cardstock and to color the chipboard stars and tag. I'm hoping the photo corners and background paper is Carnelian. From my search it looked like a redish/brownish/orangey color. I stamped the young man with a stamp from Stampsmith on glossy cardstock with black StazOn. The black paper brings in my black Onyx.
I think this could be a nice teacher's thank-you or a "well-done" card for a student (in which case I could send it to my son or my nephew).

Color Challenge

This week's color challenge over at Two Peas was turquoise, Lapis Lazuli, and Peridot (blue and green gemstones). Had to do a little investigation there. It was really a different color combination for me, but I like it.

I decided some of the paper I had in the adhesive mat stacks I showed below fit the bill.

The girl collage stamp is from Queens Dresser Drawers. The hearts are from Inkadinkadoo. The column is from Museum Stamps. I stamped and then cut out both the hearts and column. I made the flower with my Cuttlebug. And the stitching and borders along the bottom are from the Brenda Walton clear stamps I bought at Big Lots.

Framed

Another post for the Wednesday Stamper challenge. The subject was "Framed."

Color Challenge

I submitted this card for the color challenge over at Two Peas. It called for a red, green and white card -- but no Christmas cards. This was my first color challenge. With the challenge I did for Wednesday Stamper last week, that makes two firsts in one week! Since I've started blogging, I've delved into some new territory --one of the reasons I'm glad I started a blog. Another reason is I've met new people on-line, been exposed to new art through other bloggers, and felt a sense of being part of a community. I've been trying to explain this to DH who keeps asking me, "Why are you doing this? I mean what's the purpose of it?" I imagine if you are reading this, you get it.

With all the tagging going on (no one tagged me, but I'm playing anyway!) I thought I'd share a few things about myself : 1.) I have never participated in a swap. 2.) I have never made an ATC 3. ) I head a card ministry at our church where we make encouragement cards for our members. 4.) I am a frustrated collage artist (for lack of a better word). I love the art form but my mind tells me it has to make sense. 6.) I have restless legs which means it's hard to sit still at night, so I don't watch much TV or read. But when I am creating something my mind is completely engaged and I can sit for hours with no problem. Which is really a good thing.

For this card I used paper by Basic Grey. The female image is by Art by Moonlight. The script and text is by Stampington.

My First Wednesday Stamper Challenge...

Well, I've wanted to try this challenge for a while, but when I checked the posting this week it called for something "grungy." I initially thought I don't really do grungy stuff, maybe next week I'll participate. Then I made this card because I wanted to use more of the $1 stamps I got from Big Lots. When it was done I thought, "Well, this looks pretty grungy." I mean, how grungy does it have to get? The challenge is through Wednesday Stamper.

I used Basic Grey paper for the background. The compass stamp is by Stampabilities; the man is part of a collage stamp from Paperbag Studios; the metal letter is from Lil Davis (Found it at Big Lots!).
