Chalks

I had some fun with chalks yesterday after I pulled them out of the bottom shelf and dusted them off. They are something I've kind of stayed away from just because I've never really gotten the feel for them. But I decided to try a technique where you apply a medium such as Versamark or Perfect Medium completely across your paper. You then apply your chalks on top and this holds the chalk. I pulled the little square chalk out from the container and just applied it directly to the paper. In this case I just pretty much smooshed the square chalks in rows. I then took some cotton balls and blended them a bit.

I used this stamp by Hampton Arts because I know it has a lot of potentional but have just never used it that much. I would never want to color in all the images, so I think this technique gives you a lot of color with much less effort.
I also made a couple color copies of this masterboard of sorts because I'll use these squares for Moos, ATCs and cards.

I created the background for this card with chalks as well, only applying them in somewhat of a striped fashion. I added three of my squares from above to give this card a little extra interest.

Two more of my squares turned out to be the perfect embellishment for this Mother's Day Card for the Cards for Heroes program. Background stamp is by SU, heart collage is by Stampington.

Make A Moo or Two

I thought these little children stamps from Hampton Arts were soooo small -- until I made a moo with them (1.1 x 2.8). All of a sudden I had lots more room to fill. I went with a school theme this week tying it into Make a Moo's challenge of "children."

Another Hampton Art Stamps

Here's the second of the Hampton Art stamps I bought at Joann's. I tore off a section of the stamped image in the upper corner that I did not want for this particular card. But one of the reasons I bought these stamps is I saw great potential in them using not only the whole stamp but also different portions of them.

Wednesday Stamper

"Words" is the theme for Wednesday Stamper's challenge today. I created this piece using stamps from Paper Artsy and Hampton Arts. Papers are by 7 Gypsies and Basic Grey.

The lace border at the top was created with an embosser/border punch from Martha Stewart. I bought this as an alternative to the paper lace which I like so much but have, sadly, run out of. This punch will allow me to create lace borders with any kind or color paper. You can't see the embossing on this picture, but it has a raised pattern to it as well.
