Total Frustration

I got this stamp set from StampinUp this fall called Holy Triptych. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. It also comes with a flourished tag. I thought these images would easily transform themselves into lovely, elegant Christmas cards.

But for the life of me I seem unable to come up with a single a card I am truly happy with. After four hours in my "studio" this morning, all I achieved was creating this mess.
I tried stamping on every type of paper with every kind of ink I could think of and still wound up with nothing that seemed right..
I took pictures along the way of all my rejects, but even those didn't turn out.

This card emerged as the one I liked the best of the lot, but certainly not enough to warrant the time put into it. I stamped the image on a lace patterned piece of vellum with blue Staz-On. I backed it with some bright flowered paper from DCWV which I though helped it stand out a bit. I punched an oval in the card and then placed my stamped image behind that. The star is from Art Impressions.
I don't know. I think I'll put these stamps aside for a while until I get some inspiration.

You know why - because they are outline stamps so don't have any texture (my humble opinion). I find these kind of stamps hard too! But inspiration will come to you - I'm sure and what you have made is lovely!

I've got this set too Louise! I'm going to try embossing in gold or silver. I think this is a lovely card, the colors are so soft!
