Chalks

I had some fun with chalks yesterday after I pulled them out of the bottom shelf and dusted them off. They are something I've kind of stayed away from just because I've never really gotten the feel for them. But I decided to try a technique where you apply a medium such as Versamark or Perfect Medium completely across your paper. You then apply your chalks on top and this holds the chalk. I pulled the little square chalk out from the container and just applied it directly to the paper. In this case I just pretty much smooshed the square chalks in rows. I then took some cotton balls and blended them a bit.

I used this stamp by Hampton Arts because I know it has a lot of potentional but have just never used it that much. I would never want to color in all the images, so I think this technique gives you a lot of color with much less effort.
I also made a couple color copies of this masterboard of sorts because I'll use these squares for Moos, ATCs and cards.

I created the background for this card with chalks as well, only applying them in somewhat of a striped fashion. I added three of my squares from above to give this card a little extra interest.

Two more of my squares turned out to be the perfect embellishment for this Mother's Day Card for the Cards for Heroes program. Background stamp is by SU, heart collage is by Stampington.

Great use of the chalks for background. I always forget that that is an option and your samples are terrific.
