I wanted to pay tribute to my Ukrainian heritage with this basket of Easter eggs. My father was born in the Ukraine and every Easter we made the traditional Ukrainian Easter eggs. (Of course, as a kid I just wanted to make the Pas ones like everyone else!) I can appreciate the tradition much more as an adult.
I have to say that making them in real life could not be more time-consuming than coloring my stamped version of them was. It took me half an hour just to color the eggs, not to mention how long it took me to fashion this basket and liner. Let's just say I am glad I only paid $1 for this stamp (Serendipity Stamps) because I doubt I'll be using it much. I really don't have that kind of time or patience!
The words on the basket are Ukrainian for Christ is Risen pronounced "Kris-tos Vos-kres."

Ukrainian eggs are so beautiful and have captured that look very nicely with paper and ink. Pas is easier...LOL!!!
Beautiful, Louise. It does look like it takes a lot of time to make, but what a gorgeous piece.
