...and a little habit of mine. Notice the background from the card below? It's actually the cover of a large slab of 12x12 paper I just bought. Thought I'd share a little (strange maybe?) habit I have when I buy a new pad of paper--which I seem to be doing a lot of lately. Anyway, I cannot leave the paper in pad form.
I have to rip out every sheet (and in this case it was 48 of them). I cannot stand having paper I don't like mixed in with paper I do. So I sort out the "don't like's" and usually pitch them and then organize the papers that I'm keeping.
When that is done I feel compelled to immediately do something with the samples that are usually on the front cover. Which is great because it's heavy cardboard and can be used for a number of things. My last pad of paper was punched into heart shapes, which gave me a variety of colors and designs to use for upcoming Valentine's Day projects. But this pad I've used above really had a nice sized grid pattern to it, so I used this piece for a card background. The larger shape on the grid worked perfectly for my image.
I worked this into Theme Thursday's challenge for this week of "fly."
My image and butterfly are from Digital Collage Sheets.
The sentiment I stamped in two parts is from Hampton Arts.

I loved reading what you do with your paper's..lol.
Nice to reuse some of the cover's of the pad's..I've done the same and they make for cute square's.
CUTE girl to and nice stamping
This is so lovely.
this is a wonderful layout! i love the grid scheme!
Wow, this is such a delightful card Louise, love everything about it also the design! I love the creativity you made it with!
BTW - a little tip for those papers you 'pitch' (nice American word) - why don't you use those for printing on? If they are light colored then a vintage image gets a different look.... also for backing of tags or other projects.. just a thought! Have a lovely old and new!!
Great idea Louise. I also cut the sample grid out from the cards packs. they are tiny images perfect for ATCs.
You made a beautiful vitage card. Love it.
OMG Louise this is darling.
Fantastic cad. Love them.
I really didn't hear you say "pitch" as in throw away did I? We need to talk!!!
This is terrific, Louise, your background using the cover of the paper pad is brilliant. Love your image. Best wishes for a happy and creative 2010! Cheers!
You actually throw out paper?? Oh, the horror!! I can't, even if I don't like it. (But I will RAK it.)
Love this piece - great job reusing!
What a sweet little card, I think this little girl is just adorable...great work!
Yikes!! Throw paper away??? I couldn't bear to do so! If I don't like it, I give it away or I cut it up for the back of ATC's (or tags) and just use as a base for a collage!
Love this grid design - the image does fit perfectly!!
This is so beautiful, Louise! Bravo! LynnF
