I can see a lot of ways to use these chipboard bird shapes fron StampinUp. I made a little Valentine's Day one, but I can see they'd make great Christmas ornaments, too.
One thing I'm not so impressed with is the Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint (Clear Rock Candy). I've used it here and I just don't see that it leaves a very big impression. Not the first time I've tried it and been less than impressed with it.

Love your bird it is lovely! So glad to hear you say that about the rock candy distress paint. I so have the same experience and I have tried globbing it on and applying a light coat and everythign in between. :)

Well his distressed crackle might not be up to snuff, but your birdie sure didn't suffer any harm. She is gorgeous.

I've read other comments about that paint....I think the Stickles version is better. Glad I didn't go for the paint! This is a darling bird creation!

Love this project, your bird is so lovely...the rock candy crackle gives a very subtle effect. I've had luck by adding some Distress Ink, it makes the crackle stand out better.
Gorgeous bird....I had to always rub some darker,,,black or brown ..ink over the rock candy crackle in order to get any decent kind of effect from it. The colored crackles work ok for me but when they are used up I will go back to the solution where it is clear,,,you paint it on,,,then apply your own acrylic color over top,,,gives much better effect.
It is just my personal preference.

This is so beautiful. Not just for Christmas, for Spring, for oh so many things. Great idea. I had to play with that crackle paint for a long time to work with it, and someone mentioned they put some ink over it to show the crackles, I do that also. Anywho--this is fantabulous, love the clip and the hanging, just might have to borrow that idea on my brother's birthday card I am making today!

I'm with you I don't know what the big toot about the rock candy crackle paint is, it never shows up, I think they need to go back to the drawing board on that one!
Your bird is gorgeous!!!!!!!! And just thought I'd mention that I love the TH Crackle paints, although I've used colors more than the rock candy.

Hi Louise--the little bird is so pretty! I have found that the crackle medium that works best for me is Delta Ceramcoat Crackle. You paint a piece with any acrylic paint, and when it's dry, you brush on the crackle liquid, wait until it's almost dry but sticky, and then paint another color of acrylic on top--it crackles beautifully! (You probably knew all that, already, huh? Your art is so wonderful!)
