Give Away!

First of all, let me say that the only thing that balances out the incredible amount of basketball being watched by certain people at my house is the fact that it is also National Craft Month. I've always said that the two words I hated most in the world were "March Madness." But there's no reason we can't have some of our own *fun*. That being said, it's time to give away 15 of the Michael's $1 acrylic stamps I have as well as two of the acrylic blocks
I am a very new blogger and really interested in knowing what it is YOU like to see on other people's blogs. I know what draws ME to read certain ones, but everybody is different. So what I really want you to comment on is to name at least two things you think attract you to somebody else's blog. Besides the obvious one, that you admire their artwork, do you like to see detailed explanations of how things are made? Do you like learning new techniques? Do you like to read about the bloggers's personal life? Do you like to hear about their accomplishments in the art world such as getting published, being selected to be on a design team? Or do you like hearing product reviews and things of that sort? You get the picture.
So the rules are these: Starting now just leave your comment at the end of this post. Comments will be accepted until 5:00 Central Standard time on Sunday. I will then have my husband pick a number and that person will win. First thing Monday morning I will announce the winner. Oh, and I mean "first thing." I am a very early riser. Good luck to all!

I do like to see stamp credits. If it's not your standard A2 size, I do like to see measurements, or a pattern for that particular layout.

I do like seeing product reviews, which helps me decide if I really 'need' something.

I do like to see detailed descriptions of projects and I love learning new techniques as well. It is fun to read about the blogger's life from time to time, I like "getting to know" them a little better.

Also, as Mary Beth mentioned, reviews are great! I enjoy hearing about a new product from someone who is not affiliated with it other than they bought one, you know?

Wow, what a wonderful give-away!! (Still no sign of those cute stamps at our Michael's!!)

Hmmm... now for the hard question. It's really a mix - I totally agree with what the two other posters have already said. I like seeing fun non-card projects that are USEFUL (not just cute boxes that could hold a single piece of candy). I do enjoy occasional snippets of personal info, too, but frankly I'm more interested in the eye candy. I also like when specifics are given about the projects: who makes the patterned paper, for example.

Welcome to blogger :)

I love to see detailed descriptions of projects, too, showing materials used, companies, etc. I kind of like to see "reviews" of companies/products, too. Great give-away and blog!!

I like to see new techniques and simple but elegant cards. I'm not into "grunge" or "bohemian".

Love to read reviews, see new techniques and also detailed instructions!

I am not so up for details (I guess since I don't post them!)...I figure if I want the details, I can either ask in the comments or go to their SCS gallery.

I like reading details about stampers' finds, techniques, mistakes, swaps, etc.

I like hearing tidbits of one's personal life...but I am not really fussy one way or the other!

I love tips and techniques since anything that makes it easier or cheaper is great!

Ha...your reference to March Madness is funny!

First of all, let me say that I am so jealous that you got your hands on those Michael's stamps! I have gone to my Michael's several times and mine doesn't have them! As for your question: 1. I like to know details about you - it helps me relate to the person's blog. 2. I like to know if you find something great (like the Michaels stamps) and where you found it.
Thanks!

I don't have a Michael's close to me so I've never seen any of the clear stamps, but I bet they're just a nice as the other $ stamps I've seen on SCS and other people's blogs. What keeps me coming back are frequent updates of the blog and tips & techniques. You have great candy and a great blog....

Nancy said...

So far, I like your blog. What keeps me coming back to blogs is regular posts... daily isn't necessary, but regularly. I like to see different colour combinations and ideas. I don't need detailed descriptions of every part of a card, but I do like to know the colours used and stuff like that (I list it all at the end of a post on my blog).

Can't wait to come back to see more!

I personally like seeing the person's artwork with a detailed recipie, AND hearing what inspired them. That, to me, is so important and when I blog, I try to tell people how I was inspired.
Anyway...welcome to blogging...I too detest the words "march madness". Lol.

I like description of projects, a recipe card at the minimum but if it's a new technique a detailed explanation.

I love seeing new card folds.

I usually flip through blogs to get ideas for cards. I usually look for simple elegant cards (I think I am afraid of adding too much and I find the simple look pretty!)

Tips and techniques (especially simple and money saving ideas are great!!!!

I love blogs! I must browse through 50 every night. The first thing that draws me to a blog are the cards but the two things that keep me coming back are:

1. The blogger posts regularly
2. I love tutorials

I also like a little personal life stuff. My own blog is a mix of cards, book club and personal life.

Love your blog!

Diane

I enjoy the inspiration from the cards I see posted on the blogs and also a small view of the blogger lives.

Things that attract me to a blog... hm... I like seeing what bloggers are working on! Samples! I'm not one for details really. I just need visuals. :) I like seeing what I can do w/ the stuff I already own like patterned papers, embellishments, etc.

I'll be rooting for UCLA this weekend, my alma mater! Go Bruins!

I've been looking for those stamps a the Michaels in my area, with no luck. Anyway I am attracted to other people's blog by the crafts that they do. I am a frustrated artist, so I love admiring other people's creativity.

What I like is someone who posts at least three times a week.I spend my morning having my tea and looking through blogs.I also love to learn new things,so tutorials are great.

I like to see the different cards. I also like innovative techniques with tutorials! I'm new to the blogging world too...Welcome!

What draws me to a blog...

Well...blog candy is good incentive to check one out.

I like it when the blog is updated almost everyday. I enjoy reading about stamping and OTHER stuff. Pictures are a big must! They keep me interested. And I love finding links from one blog to another...keeps the web growing. Who knows where I'll end up!

What I like to see on blogs is that they are consistant in their updates, detailed card instructions & techniques used. I also like the stamp credits added as now days I find myself wanting stamps that I've seen used on a blog. I also like to see a variety of different stamp companies. Product reviews are always nice as it also helps me to decide if the item, product is something I might want. Photos are a must as that is what shows the card, product, etc. I also like 3D projects, different card folds, etc. So far what I see on your blog is very nice.

Lucky you to find the M's clear stamps. We drove 45 miles to our nearest Michael's only to find out that they were sold out. What a bummer.

I like to see samples. Fun to surf the blogs looking for good ideas. I like to know what stamp designs and supplies are featured in the sample too, just in case I see something I really like.
I read about your blog on the Gingerwood bb.

I like to see the cards you are making with some details. I also like to read about products you like and why. And who doesn't like candy?! LorieR

Welcome to blogger!
I like to get to know the card maker. Details aren't usually important for me, although there are times I can't figure out how something is done by looking at the picture I'll actually read the details.

Julie Mutch said...

I love to see tutorials on new techiques. I love to look at cards for inpiration, I tend not to read a lot of the details on how they made a card, as I'm a visual person. I'd rather just go by the picture of the card.
But, I do love to read about what's going on in their neck of the woods and get to know the blogger a bit.
Welcome to the addicting world of blogging! :)

I like blogs that have a lot of eye candy! :) There are so many brands/products out there and it's great to see what things you are using and what you are making - so lots of good pictures ! Also, I love seeing different kinds of things being made- as it's fun to make something other than a standard card!

I like the blogs that have a short recipe at bottom of the picture - it's clearer that way. (like on SCS)

I found myself looking thru blogs for new techniques or sketches for cards and LOs. For me, it helps to have a somewhat detailed listing of the items used. When the blogger shows off a new technique, I love when they include ongoing pictures!

Reviews are helpful too, especially when they aren't affiliated with the manufacturer...just a normal user.

I love an easy reading blog!

Thanks for the chance at some stamps I will probably never get my hands on...lol...Michaels is almost 100 miles away!

Love seeing your cards. Since I dont have aMicheals near me and drove to one 2 1/2 hours away only to find they did not have the acrylic sets I had read about...Pick me , Pick me, Pick Me.

Good luck with your new blog! I am a blurfer addict for sure! I am drawn to new technique descriptions as well as unique project ideas. But I also just like to see what other stampers are doing too....

Nancy Ward said...

Three factors bring me back and back to a blog: stamp credits (so I know who made the stamp); techniques that are different; layouts that are original and eye-catching.

Hello,
Welcome to the blogging world! I am sure you will have lots of visitors. :-}
The things that keep me coming back to an artist blog are #1: The design of the blog itself. It has to flow easily and be clean. #2: The content. It's nice when the blog has been updated regularly and has cards to view. Techniques or new product reviews are nice too.
Hope that helps,
Nancy Grant

Blog candy! That's what draws me. lol no, just kidding. Blog candy is nice (even nicer when i win) but ilove to see creations of any kind, tutorials, other sites listed (free fonts, card sketches, etc.)

Best of luck to you in the blogging world.

You have a wonderful blog. What attracts me first off is an easy to read, well set up blog. With colors that aren't harsh and distracting. I like a blog that has lots of photos of their work, updated frequently and a little personal items along with scrapbooking/stamping talk.

I love to see photos and a list of the supplies used. Any interesting detail explained so that I could 'get it' and do the same. I guess for me it's just the inspiration...seeing other peoples' work. It may be a whole different style, but that's how I grow as a stamper.

I like to see card samples, techniques, product reviews.

I love product reviews so I don't spend alot on products that don't work well. I also love pictures with tutorials. Most of us seem to be visual people and I know how much this helps me make new things. I also love it when someone finds something fun to alter and share the price and place. I also love altered items.

I love your inchies. Thanks for telling how you did them. I punch my 1.5s too. Love using scraps. Means you need to get more paper later.:) Directions and supplies for projects are good as well as any pitfalls you have discovered. Also enjoy new uses for old items such as punches.

I love to see pictures of cards, I usually prefer SU stamps just so I can be inspired to get out that older set or perhaps see what I missed in a set I originally passed over (such as Doodle This). I don't need detailed instructions unless it is a different size card or something unique.

I like to see a picture of the blog owner, this allows me to put a face to the personality of the blog. (It also helps to separate people's blogs that my be similar in title or have similar names.) I also like to see personality when you write. I guess it helps with the connection. :D

Blog candy is nice, but once I find a blog I like I add it to my Google Reader, so I'll be back! ;)

I really like tutorials and am very much appreciative of the work involved in posting one. Also, stampers are such generous people and I enjoy it when links are posted with other's great sites and ideas.

Wow, you know I really read the blogs for my enjoyment, I love to get new ideas, but most of all I love to see that the author is truly enjoying themselves. You have a great blog started. Keep up the good work!

Barbara P said...

Hey Louise-great blog you got going, keep it up. I love the inchies, I'll have to "case" the idea! Well of course I love to see what others are creating, it can be so inspiring. I like techs as well, the not so ordinary and seeing different products used. As for their personal life, certin things are good like being published or anything related to creating, but what went on in their day like thier kids being sick, doing laundry, went on vacation to see the White House, or what they are making for dinner...get my drift? well not so important to me. If the blog is about stamping and creating then it should relate to that. Just my opinion.

Nancy said...

I love to see the detailed instructions...I'm an A+ #1 CASER.
I also love to read about product reviews.
Thanks so much!

I like to see lots and lots of cards. If it's something kind of "different" or difficult, I'd like a tutorial so I can make it, too!

I also like blogs that are updated frequently-maybe even daily.

One last thing-I'm very cheap, so it's nice to know where I can find bargains, OR how I can use already-owned things in a new way.

I like to see regular updates, new techniques, tutorials, new ways to use things I already have but seldom use, your artwork, descriptions of how it was done, and interesting tidbits about your daily life.

Joan said...

First, I like your blog already! I love to see the ingredients used to make stuff and love a bit of the personality of the blogger to shine through. Give aways are not necessary!! Also, product reviews are most welcome.

Finally, I like to know if the blogger is being paid -- with products or cash -- to post anything. I think it is important to know!

I'm really new to all the blogging. So I'm not sure what to look for in a blog. But what I would like to see in blogs is examples of cards and scrapbook pages. I'm so new to this, that I think this is the first time I've left a comment on a blog page. Thanks for having a great give away! It's very generous of you. :-)

Naturally artwork is number one. I like to see new techniques also. I'm not much into collage, but loved your inchie cards. So basically anything!!!lol
